Northern Thailand Adventure
Our adventure starts in the city of Chiang Mai, the former capital, set amongst the lush hills of northern Thailand.
Our first day will give us a taste of what it is like to live amongst the treetops as we sample the rope courses, trapezes and zip lines of the “Flight of the Gibbon”. Part of the proceeds from our visit will go to support the conservation of the gibbon’s natural habitat and gibbon breeding projects. The next day we will head into the mountains around Chiang Dao where over the next three days we will take a hike and learn about the native plants and how they are used in traditional Thai medicine and cooking, explore the Sacred Chiang Dao Cave and go on a bicycle tour through the countryside. We will get the chance to explore the local waterfalls and natural hot springs, swim in the river, tell stories round a campfire as well as enjoy a traditional Thai massage. Whilst in Chiang Dao we will stay in a lodge in a hill tribe village. For the last two days we will return to Chiang Mai, stopping en route for a white water rafting adventure on the Mae Taeng River. Tranquil stretches of the river will allow us to enjoy the riverside scenery, and prepare for the excitement of the next set of rapids. Once back in Chiang Mai we will visit the famous Night Market with the opportunity for some souvenir shopping before our return to Hong Kong the following day. This trip is coordinated by Rustic Pathways. Leader: Gudrun Van Rissenbeck
