QINGYUAN ADVENTURE CAMP, Guangdong, China
Qingyuan, only a little over four hours from Hong Kong by coach, is often described as 'Little Guilin'. This is an authentic rural experience in southern China within a beautiful landscape and gives students a real flavour of village life in China. The range of activities includes biking, rock climbing, camping, cave exploration, and exploring local heritage villages.
A chance to get away from tourism and into the untouched countryside, where there are only farms, rice fields, and villages. One night is spent camping, but for the rest of the time we stay in a small hotel on the edge of the town. With the countryside right on the doorstep, we can walk to all the activities taking in the great scenery and the rural way of life. One of the caves here makes for a unique experience of self-led discovery as small groups walk through the cavern following maps. We also try our hand at rock climbing and take a cycle ride amongst the rice fields to visit neighbouring villages. Nearby is the Pan Family Home, a little known heritage site. A whole village used to live in this defensive position atop one of the karst formations. We also visit a small tofu skin making factory and try our hand at making this local product. Group activities throughout the trip encourage students to develop their communication and teamwork skills. This trip is coordinated by Dragonfly – a Hong Kong based specialist educational trip provider. Leader: TBC
