Funpreneur, Hong Kong
In this 5-day programme, students discover a completely different side of their hometown: the Hong Kong start-up ecosystem. They get to go on six exciting visits at local start-ups, an incubator, a bank that plays an active role in supporting young entrepreneurs and attend an academic seminar at HKUST. Besides learning about the entrepreneurial journeys the start-up founders have taken, the students gain an understanding of how the different players interact. In addition, our programme participants get to experience what it means to think and act like an entrepreneur themselves by working on their own “Funpreneur“ projects.
Each student can come up with their own idea and receives an imaginary budget of HK$100 in order to turn their idea into an actual project. During fun and highly interactive workshops given by Andreas and Janina, they learn about state-of-the-art entrepreneurial methods and tools, which help them to develop their ideas further. On Friday, everyone gets to pitch their final project in front of a jury and receives valuable feedback. The jury is made up of the group's accompanying teacher, Andreas, Janina and a couple of local start-up founders. Each morning begins with some time for reflection, during which the students can talk about the new experiences they have made. During our lunch breaks, the students are taken to food courts with selections of different restaurants to choose from.
Learning Outcomes
During the programme, participants meet with local entrepreneurs and learn what the career paths of different start-up founders look like.
At HKUST and in our hands-on workshops, they get introduced to state-of-the-art entrepreneurial methods and tools while working on their own business ideas.
On the last day, they can practice their presentation skills when pitching their final “Funpreneur“ project results to a jury of professionals and receive valuable feedback.
