INDIA, Eco Adventure
Our Eco Adventure aims to introduce students to India’s spectacular natural environment and to develop an appreciation of the cultural heritage of this ancient land. Students who have been on this trip in previous years have enjoyed it immensely in a comfortable and safe environment amidst the beautiful surroundings of the camp at the foothills of the Himalayas.
Our programme is action orientated and offers a range of activities which include river rafting, trekking, zip lining, hiking and there will also be a chance to try climbing and rappelling on an artificial climbing wall. Included in our itinerary is a sequence of yoga lessons which are intended to provide an in-depth learning experience of this ancient art. Our tour starts in Delhi. We arrive early in the evening, check-in the hotel for the night and then proceed to watch a Bollywood themed performance "Kingdom of Dreams". Next morning we will fly to Dehradun and then travel by road to our camp. The Snow Leopard Camp is a place for a range of activities that include swimming and yoga as well as evening games such as volleyball, Frisbee, football, etc. Students will also be able to cultivate their Indian cooking skills in the camp. Trekking will provide a wilderness experience and a chance to visit small Indian villages. Our trek starts with a short detour to a nearby waterfall. En route to the waterfall, we get to see some stalactite formations. We finish the trek by visiting an ashram, a place where people come to live, pray and meditate. What better place to develop your rafting and zip lining skills than India’s sacred river - the Ganges. The rafting is suitable for beginners. This is a safe place to practise river skills such as swimming and kayaking. Our rafting experience ends with a visit to the famous historic town of Rishikesh. In India, students will not be using any public transport and will always be supervised by teachers and activity leaders whilst undertaking any activity. All students are required to consume only drinks and food approved by our hosts. Leader: Mrs Majithia
