NEPAL - Yoga and Meditation
If you are looking to do something completely different from where you currently live & you like the idea of adventurous treks and the tranquillity of yoga & meditation…then Nepal should be top of your list!
After we check into our hotel in Kathmandu, the trip begins with a short yoga and meditation lesson. Every morning on the trip will begin with a yoga session, and every night before bed we will be practicing different meditation techniques - this will ensure you will have a fresh mind & soul throughout the trip! After our morning yoga on day 2, we will start our trek through the Himalayan mountains to the Prakriti Eco Resort (our base for the night’s 2 & 3), whilst taking in the stunning mountain views. The resort is located in the rural farming area of the Lantang Trek - a perfect venue for yoga retreats and short treks into the surrounding forest. As we’re located so close to the local community, we will also take part in a hands-on organic farming sessions, learn traditional farming methods, visit the local villagers & interact with the local children. On day 4 we will trek through the scenic Nepalese countryside to Nagarkot, where on a clear day we can even get a glimpse of Mt. Everest! Perhaps the most rewarding part of the trip will be our visit to the Maya boarding school in Nagarkot (day’s 5, 6 & 7). This school was set up for children from rural communities in Nepal, so they could have access to a good education. The families all help to support the school through active involvement in building and farming. All food grown on the farm feeds the children and both the parents and children currently do all repairs and building work. We will be helping out around the school in activities such as painting, construction, farming, teaching English & designing curriculum-linked activities to conduct with the students – an incredibly rewarding experience for all involved! As well as learning about the fascinating Nepali culture and it’s unique natural environments, this volunteering program is pivotal to help support the upkeep and ongoing management of the Maya school. We will end our spiritual journey in Nepal with a campfire and reflections, before heading back to Kathmandu to explore the markets for souvenir shopping on our last day. Leader: Ece Nicolaus
